It's so striking to me all the essays about the death of the humanities and who and what to blame and blah blah blah and the answer is pretty much the undergraduate business major and everything it represents.

Went out for brunch. Had two very pleasant stranger interactions (one with a man who noticed me pick up trash from the ground, another with a dad and his daughter about MCR concerts) and then had the waiter tell us our meal had been paid for. God I love people. Happy Valentine’s Day.

My oldest son is a concert percussionist. He often gets film concert gigs to play the soundtracks live. He's done LOTR, he'll be doing Star Wars in a few months, and he turned down doing Harry Potter. These are choices anyone can make.

The connections among Epstein, AI oligarchs, cognitive scientists, eugenicists, misogynists, rapists, and outright fascists are so strong it's stunning that they are not outlined in every account of AI development and deployment.

Important AI reporting on the growing surveillance state by Wired—once again showing that it doesn’t matter if these systems work well or not, they will be deployed regardless by people in power:

This is all political review-bombing. There's no way Brett Ratner made a bad movie.
Critics despise ‘Melania’ — the woman and the documentary. ‘The worst movie I’ve ever seen’ is one of the kinder reviews of the FLOTUS doc for which Amazon paid $40 million.

Pictures from the weekend—the first is me on my wedding day, and the second is our first date out as a married couple (we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see a screening of The Room, the best worst movie ever made).

I read these back in early-mid October. I only remember because I ordered The Stone Sky during banned book week. The Broken Earth trilogy is cemented in my favorite books of all time. #crochet #booksky

I know that the Acolyte has been over for a while now but I still don’t understand the vitriol against it (I mean I know a lot of it was racism. I know) but like. The writing really was not as bad as people claimed it was and it didn’t deserve to be canceled. 🤷🏻‍♀️
