Our underlying numbers are worse. We're 15th on expected points (which you can roughly read as where the team should be based on performances, xG, etc). Last season, we finished 13th on xPts. So we're worse than last season. The slide in our actual table position predictable with good confidence.

They objectively did (and do) score a lot of goals and they weren't running hot. What let them down was their defence, which was always quite leaky. Close to top-4 xG, yet only +9 GD.

Worth comparing to Brentford last season. They were not far off top-4 for xG and are top-4 this season. For whatever reason, Frank has not been able to replicate anything close to that level of performance here. If he were, I do believe fans would be significantly happier.

Given how Brentford are performing now without him, Mbeumo, Wissa, and Norgaard, it would be interesting to look at how much of their success is down to the overall environment (i.e., collaborative input) rather than individual quality of the manager. Frank has said it was efficient there.

I certainly think Iraola and Glasner have their clubs performing well. Brighton also have a very good squad but are, if anything, underperforming a bit. Just noticed too that Brentford are 4th in the xG table - a testament to how that club is far greater than the sum of it's individual parts!

With Arsenal sitting proud at the top and matches like this happening on the regular, is it any wonder Tottenham leadership think Frankball is the way to go?

We are now, yes. I'm talking about where he wants to get to, which is where Brentford were under him. Consistently putting up numbers like this, which is notable.
