Realising that there are people out there who are (were) a lot more optimistic than me about this series. I just assumed 4-1 at best (still do). #Ashes

#Ashes25 - anyone know whether the tests are available in Mexico? We thought ESPN but now think that was false hope! Can’t find anything listed either 😢

Also #Ashes25 Day too of course. Nice 9pm start here, very civilised.

Happy Día de la Revolución from Mexico. If you could sort one out back home that would be cool.

Tremendous sales technique in an alebrijes workshop and gallery we just visited in San Martín Tilcajete: ply visitors with Mezcal to soften them up. I have no doubt it works on some, even if we just enjoyed the booze. The carvings were incredible, but I’m nowhere near rich enough to commission one.

There should be mass resignations from Labour now. Unions need to show anti-racist backbone and pull funds as soon as it’s possible. Kill the fascist party masquerading as something from the left. They are utterly vile.

Even on a plane it is jam first. Obviously.

Lots of FC Copenhagen fans around Hackney before their trip to White Hart Lane on Tuesday. Some combining it with a trip to West Ham today, others going to QPR Wednesday. All of them loving London.

Not going to be awake but GO #BLUEJAYS. Yes, I watched you when you were shit, but so did millions of others. We all need this.

@markthomasinfo.bsky.social what was that about joy?

Why is the pub showing tennis from a country with zero human rights, that murders journalists and is executing dissenters with alarming frequency @afcwimbledon1889.bsky.social? There are football scores you could be showing instead. 🤔

The Broadgate entrance to Liverpool St Station has only put up lights and decorations in OCTOBER.

In the office a small spider appeared yesterday and has begun to weave a web on a colleague’s monitor. The spider has been named Charlotte. We are being careful to protect Charlotte and hope they make it to Friday, when spiders will be everywhere.

Can't believe the antisemitic Tel Aviv Police banned Jews from football today.

Get Starmer and Milliband on it quick.
www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_ent... As if seeking to back up the decision of West Midlands police to ban them from Birmingham, Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were today involved in a riot with Hapoel Tel Aviv supporters. Hapoel are seen as Israel's left-wing club.

Just stop this nonsense right now. Miliband knows what he’s saying is utter bollocks, the Guardian knows it is utter bollocks and yet here we are.

I've spent my life arguing against all football fans being tarred with the same brush, but to not even acknowledge that Maccabi Tel Aviv's far-right fans posed a threat to public order, and Birmingham's Muslims in particular, is next-level racist gaslighting
I never thought being pro-football-hooligan would become a mainstream political position in Britain but here we are.
October 17, 2025 at 6:51 AM
It was said at the time, but it needs saying again. If any British football fans had behaved as Maccabi Tel Aviv fans did in Amsterdam, or Israel fans in Paris and elsewhere, then the Government would be calling for bans, not trying to overturn one.
