People in the replies are pointing at performance: I think thats a bad argument. No one forced you to use RT in BFV, which was the standout performance hitting feature. Then again, if devs renamed high to ultra and cut the previous ultra, people would probably praise them for optimization

The Tensor Cores not being fully utilized most of the time with DLSS active doesn't actually mean that DLSS does not utilize the tensor cores properly. There is no DLSS-related computation going on during the frame rendering itself.

(technically 3 but 1 couldn't fly for shit and I would rather erase it. Also this one technically crashed on landing and ended up with a wing broken. Not tragic, the rest is fine. Had to land early because I forgot tightening the motor mounting screws and they came loose mid-air...)

(that latter part is why I think the DLSS +ray reconstruction combo is a dead end for path tracing. It's silly to run two separate sample accumulators. In fact DLSS will in many scenes appropriately denoise noisy PT output)

I personally have difficulty calling either of these technologies upscaler. One is technically a lossy pixel remapper, the other a temporal sample accumulator.
September 3, 2025 at 5:22 PM
And that entire block on the right of this slide is complete nonsense. It ignores that using temporal accumulation has defacto allowed graphics to advance, that deferred rendering has no real alternative to TAA and claims that temporal accumulation ends up somehow more expensive.

Threat Interactive is first and foremost a grifter. While some of what he talks about might be true, he is mostly clueless about graphics and trying to get videos criticizing him taken down. The situation is so bad that the r/FuckTAA mod-team made a video explicitely distancing themselves from him.

Additionally, getting similar results with triangle meshes is going to be borderline impossible, let alone efficient. I don't even want to know how much transparency checks are wasted for the hair on the left.
August 22, 2025 at 3:18 PM
Define mesh, because linear swept spheres are not what I would call "mesh". Regardless, your GPU will in all likelyhood consume its power-budget, whether you have LSS-hair or not.

Its not a rasterisation technique. Sure, the end result here is a raster image, but you wouldn't call triangle-raytracing a raster technique either.
But I still don't get OP.

Greetings! I happen to work on reverse engineering water for Source 2 Viewer right now, this might be interesting to you:

Huh, weird. I was specifically looking for numbers and couldn't find one >600k. I can find the 5.2mio number but not 8.5 for last weekend(only "over 3 million"), but still 5.2 is obviously much better than I had known.

I am quite excited! I have been closely following QDEL development over the last roughly 1.5 years, checking google scholar for new papers has become a daily routine.
Hoping to hear that Sharps progress from last year is being handily beaten (by whoever. TCL-Bluestar is also coming up.

Then again Elon seems pissed that he is getting hate by the left, so maybe I was wrong and it actually worked. In general terrorizing someone is a two sided sword.

-Being rationally outspoken. Essentially converting as many people as possible. I know this isn't always possible and it would be a slow process. Point out as much hypocrisy as possible.
-Violence. I know that is easy to say and I think I wouldn't, but violence is sometimes an answer.

Bit late, I know:
-Protesting. The US is extremely weak in this regard. We have here a party in Germany that is less extreme than the republican one and still drew 4 Million people to protests without even being elected. AFAIK the current protests don't even beat that, despite 4x the population.

What is the technique here? When I think Voxels, I think voxel-cone-tracing. Are you doing lightprobes casting into a voxel grid?

ChatGPT has degraded so hard its not even funny. The thing doesn't even respond to you correcting it anymore, neither 4o mini nor the fullsize model.
"hey XYZ is wrong"
"oh I see, lets try again: use XYZ"
Claude, meanwhile, impresses me. The damn thing answers like it is the Vulkan documentation.

Which would make other forms of pressure less effective.
As it were, I also care about maintaining morals and bullying is not compatible with that. I would not be comfortable bending that for something I see as completely ineffective on a rational level.
