Punchbowl Social’s Chicago location was showing a rip of the new Fantastic Four on opening weekend. I certainly hope they weren’t charging for any food or drinks while they were screening that movie for free.

Yeah, I'm listening to the Elm Street 4 playlist because it's summer and summer is about nostalgia and also Elm St 4 has a banger line up of late 80s rock jams. H/t to Mikey Gaitanis for putting this together!

It’s remarkable how good John Ottman is with legacy scores. Whereas Giacchino tends to shy away from the main themes in favor of minor ones, Ottman embraces the iconic marches while adding his own flair. If you’re making a franchise sequel with a known theme, he should be at the top of your list.

Just a quick reminder that Bride of the Killer Piñata is a 4th of July horror film, if you’re filling out the midnight section of your marathon.

For me, the submarine sequence is worth the price of admission for Final Reckoning, but 50% of the movie be like:

Really enjoyed Tin Man by Justin Madson. The spiritual sibling to Edward Scissorhands. All engines firing on this one.

I was curious what Mr. Google would recommend if you asked it for rom-com recommendations and these were seriously some of the titles that came up. Chef's kiss to whoever engineered this.

Finally watching Trancers: City of Lost Angels and it’s wild how much this feels like a lost pilot for a Trancers tv show.

Weird that they didn’t try a Trancers TV show. It would have fit right in with the SciFi offerings of the early ‘90s.

This score is fantastic. I don’t know how I missed it. Vibes of Scarface, but it’s its own thing.

Will be digging into Martin Dirkov’s other scores today.

Four horror films that I randomly found and absolutely loved.

*May I had on the bg while I wrapped gifts one year & loved it so much I demanded all of my roommates watch it with me the next night. They loved it, too.

Creature Commandos is a delight. Top notch voice acting (especially David Harbour’s Frankenstein), great storytelling and animation. Another DC Gunn win. I’m still laughing at the line, “When Harry Met Sally, have you seen *that* film?”

Every year we do a Nacho Regular Christmas Eve party where everyone makes nachos, cocktails, and we play board games. This year was a banger, with brisket nachos on potato chips, Korean nachos, verde chicken, vegan, and classic stadium. A delicious, fun night.

Came home from our annual Christmas Eve nacho party (more on that later) to find these signed scores. Thank you, Richard!

I love:
-that the Williams score is back
-Krypto running across the tundra. (and that he has a cape and there's no need to explain why. Krypto has a cape, that's why)
-that iconic Superman shot

Gunn has be feeling pretty good at the moment.
