oh, yeah. and you can even play with those traces out of the play area and turn them into visual effects, color decay/transform as frames pass, incoming entities depositing colour residue as they move...

at this moment, my *reaction* is "yeah, the economy burning would be best, actually." but knowing that the way it will burn will hurt the people that already can barely make ends meet hurts a lot-lot.

yeah, i agree completely, particularly that *every* gamedev choice is a tradeoff.

but... i can never agree that jumping words is a worthy tradeoff compared to actually doing nothing. i cut that from my prototypes when i couldn't find a way around. it's a personal pain and i will stop now. sorry ^_^

yeah, i don't blame them for doing it wrong while in development, learning, or in jam games. but i *do* blame them for shipping, commercially, like that. it makes me drop games, it hits so hard ^_^

i mean, it's way better UX the text showing up all at once, than this `oops, it doesn't fit` move ^_^

i want to say Princess Mononoke but i feel like that's stretching both `fall in love` and `monster`...

i think anime has some where they are both monstrous but the man is the gentler one. but, yeah. failing to bring anything to mind where the distinction is as clear as the woman-loves-monster trope
