Damn, missed the auction for this page of Arkham Asylum Dave McKean was selling (although, to be fair, I wouldn't quite have had enough money to have beaten the final asking price... $360,000)

Non-celebrity publishes children's book by Our Publishing Correspondent Bill Cashgrab THE CHILDREN'S publishing world was rocked this week as a book was released by a new author who wasn't a celebrity. "We've checked and double- checked and she does indeed appear to be a former nanny living in West Somerset whose talent was spotted by an editor at Bloomsbury," said everyone working in publishing. "She's not a footballer like Marcus Rashford, a presenter like Dermot O'Leary, a pop star like Madonna, a comedian like David Baddiel or an actress like Keira Knightley, so what business this woman has writing children's books is anyone's guess." The publishing world was relieved when it became clear there was no marketing budget for this book, as that was going on Gwyneth Paltrow's first picture book, meaning that the non-celebrity author's book sold less than 3,000 copies despite excellent reviews. "This means she'll now have to put her talent towards paying the bills, ghost-writing children's books by celebrity authors." "Well, that's a relief," agreed everyone in children's publishing eagerly looking forward to the day when AI will be able to generate children's books for the celebrities to put their name on at no cost.
