If you knew someone who was grieving the loss of a loved one, you would not approach them to tell them that this is just the way things are now, so get used to it. That would hurt them badly, right?
That's the same hurt that I feel when people tell me AI is here to stay so I'd better accept it.

After some thought, I know what's at the core: Grief. This past year, this past decade even, has been a series of incalculable losses that keep adding up with no signs of stopping.
The powers that be that are driving the proliferation of gen AI are responsible for so much of those losses.

Good luck to you & best wishes for your continued employment during all of this. I wasn't so lucky, unfortunately, and the heavy-handed AI-pressuring and gaslighting is currently happening to me and a few coworkers in full force. No idea how long my income will still be my income.

Competely fair! As much as I enjoyed S8, it's not without its problems, and I too am still reeling from the abrupt cancellation.

Earlier this year I was making very serious plans to move to the Netherlands on the DAFT visa to escape whatever the fuck is happening here in the US. Dutch housing was an insurmountable challenge so I abandoned those plans.
