Today's remix track is one of the best arrangements I've come across for the music from Final Fantasy VI, which is not a small feat because there are a lot of good ones!

It's "Death on the Snowfield"" by Nobuo Uematsu, remix by AmIEvil

Bubbles is a 1982 arcade game that anyone can relate to - it's about cleaning a sink!

I miss the era of games like this that were simple, accessible, wildly creative and made for everyone. And this one's quite a lot of fun for what it is.

Disney did the same thing to Star Wars that they did to the Muppets.

They acquired the IP, flogged it to death for merchandise sales and then turned it into an anchor for their streaming service.

Disney's good at making a lot of money and stoking fandoms, but they hollow those things out over time

Hah! Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has been cut from the Star Wars canon, and they're going to replace all the sequel trilogy stuff (except the rides) with classic trilogy stuff.

Disney still has no idea what they're doing with Star Wars.

I wish I had the patience to find a jam band of people who also love ToeJam & Earl and lovingly recreate the Genesis music on actual instruments in a leisurely 15-minute medley.

But, since I don't, here's a group called the Super Hi Tops who did!

I'd like to be excited, but:

1) Ecco is a better idea than a game. It's so frustrating to play! The Sega CD version and sequel were marginally better

2) I haven't seen any mention that creator Ed Annunziata is on the dev team

3) Why do we need several games? Make one good one first and we'll see!

I run a small, independent business and I will tell you - it's a hard life and you have to have a high tolerance for risk to ever see the great rewards you can bring in.

Even so, I would never trade it for a comfy corporate job with the sword of Damocles hanging over my head. That's a raw deal!

The news about Meta laying off 10% of its VR staff was bad enough, but closing Twisted Pixel (who just put out Deadpool VR) and Sanzaru Games (Asgard's Wrath 1&2) is a real twist of the knife for VR gaming.

It's clear Meta is moving on from VR to AR.

And sad to see good people lose their jobs!

I love it when a game remix takes two great pieces of music, fuses them together and then kicks it up a notch.

Crush, Crumble & Chomp! and The Movie Monster Game are both built around the same idea:

You're a giant monster on a rampage and the local army's trying to stop you.

The Movie Monster Game even includes the officially licensed Godzilla instead of a knockoff!

Maybe it's because I took a few years off social media before joining BSky a year+ ago, but I am still baffled by the persistence of photos of coffee mugs next to video game accessories.

When did this become a thing? And aren't gamers more closely associated with soda and energy drinks than coffee?

It's really sad when Major Nelson of all people can't catch a break in the games industry.

But Unity is definitely suffering from multiple self-inflicted wounds, and this is not their first round of layoffs, sadly.

The "For You" feed has made BSky so much better for me because the "Discover" tab was promoting too much content I didn't want and the "Following" tab was a cacophony that felt like I was midway into thousands of conversations with no context.

Try "For You"! It's really wonderful.
Enjoying the For You feed? Give it a like ♡ to help more people discover it: bsky.app/profile/did:...

Quoted for truth x100!

The biggest downside of genAI is that it's eroding truth and trust in everything around us.

NFTs were an irritating (but mostly harmless) fad, but genAI allows bad actors to actively lie and cheat and have plenty of cover for it. We'll look back on this time as a dark one.
I feel it needs to be repeated that what companies say about Gen-AI use (see Level 5's '80-90% of our stuff is made by AI') is bullshit to try and extract money from the same investors who thought NFTs would be the next big thing.

While any use is bad, it's usually only enough to claim that they do

From the trailer, Master of Albion looks terribly derivative of a lot of other strategy/building games, and that's disappointing given its creator is Peter Molyneux and this is supposed to be his swansong.

Even so, I'm interested in it and will likely play it!
Peter Molyneux's final game is coming in April: 'Masters of Albion is the culmination of my life’s work,' he says, not that he's overhyping it or anything
Whether Masters of Albion proves to actually be Molyneux's final videogame remains to be seen, but he says it is.

So I'm further in Tactical Breach Wizards now, and it's both a good game and one I recommend.

Super Locomotive was never available in North America, but it made it to the UK where it inspired several similar games that used its unusual vertical/horizontal scrolling mechanics.

It's one heck of a game, with music inspired by Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Rydeen"!
