Hot take — could this be a possible clue as to why @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social did so well in the #NYC election yesterday?

Amazing job opportunity at the @institutimagine.bsky.social, Head of the Genomics Platform.

I am adding an English translation of the opportunity, but fluency in French is a (reasonable) requirement for the position. Application link below.

DNA methylation does not mediate ageing.

Apparently Maynard has never done this with a book before, according to his owner.

I feel honoured.

3/3 Then realize this is a grossly underpowered study using a molecular assay with substantial inherent noise.

To anyone with #MECFS, please ignore this overhyped report, this is unfairly exploiting you.

Using the word in the title to lull people into a false sense of security. It's very devious, I'll admit.

Seven years.
Over 400 pages.
About 750 references.
Over 40 figures.
Finally I get to hold the finished book.
It’s a big day.

Unhelpful framing. Scientists know we always need to be improving what we do, but science is not “broken”. To suggest this justifies the misplaced destruction of US scientific institutions.

Plant #epigenetics colleagues, is this the consensus opinion?

"...these methylation marks and epiallelic variations found in natural populations are mainly attributed to genetic variations in epigenetic machinery and transposable element (TE) insertions"

I fail to understand the value of using epigenetic aging clocks in any situation.

They are being correlated with...stuff. Name the exposure/condition, someone will find a perturbation in one of today's many epigenetic aging clocks.

More expensive and less meaningful than a fortune telling machine.

I'm not 100% opposed to the points he raises, but this is not the way a newspaper should be generating content.

Representative @aoc.bsky.social clearly has an astute political nose.

Her suggested ranking in the NYC Mayoral primary closely mirrored the outcome.

Such an interesting primary here in #NYC

If someone has your genomic information, whether in academia or the commercial world, you should control its use.

Control, not trust, is the sustainable model.
