Republicans would rather let DOGE mess with your hard-earned Social Security checks than grow a spine and stand up to Elon.
DOGE is driving Social Security cuts and will make mistakes, acting head says privately
The Social Security Administration’s acting commissioner said members of Elon Musk’s cost-cutting team are outsiders who are unfamiliar with the nuances of the agency’s programs.

“It’s important that we not bow down to threats around funding and stand up for things that are true and assert that.”

Even if every non-defense job in the federal government were eliminated, it would only account for account 3% reduction in the total federal budget.

He cannot unilaterally shut down the Department of Education. Its creation and funding stem from Congressional action, and only Congress possesses the authority to dismantle or reorganize it through legislation.

The federal courts, particularly the Supreme Court, have the ultimate authority to interpret the Constitution and determine the constitutionality of laws and actions—not Congress, and certainly not the President.

It doesn’t add up—when one party controls every branch, how can they still violate the law? Majority rule doesn’t trump the Constitution. #RuleOfLaw #Constitution #PunIntended

You only resort to unconstitutional actions because you lack the votes and mandate to enforce your agenda legitimately. No majority can bypass the Constitution. #RuleOfLaw #Constitution

Trump’s administration is flagrantly disregarding the Constitution. Unilateral actions bypassing Congress and judicial oversight threaten our republic’s essential checks and balances. Our democracy deserves adherence to its founding principles. #RuleOfLaw #Constitution

Effective leadership often necessitates a balance between resolute fortitude and thoughtful deliberation. A robust and unwavering approach is NOT necessary to navigate challenges.

JUST IN: The 1st Circuit Court of appeals has *denied* the Trump administration's emergency motion to block a court order that ordered agencies to lift their spending freeze.

If the goal is to cut waste in spending, you need someone trained in financial oversight, not someone who specializes in building or optimizing systems.

Not "all white people" are wrong. But when it comes to race, the majority of white Americans have been on the wrong side of every single racial issue in the 248-year history of this country.

So why would anyone even care what they think about Black art?

How are you fed when you’re criminal?

If the legislative branch is seen as abdicating its responsibilities, then the judiciary’s role in upholding the Constitution becomes even more critical. Maintaining the integrity of our institutions is essential for the stability of the country.

I really don't understand the ambiguity here. Trump deputized the richest man on the planet to unilaterally cut off congressionally-funded and congressionally-authorized agencies. A power which neither of them can wield legitimately. That was the beginning of the constitutional crisis right there.
>> @kaitlancollins.bsky.social: "We are three weeks into the second Trump presidency, three weeks, and tonight, there are warnings that the U.S. is dangerously close to a constitutional crisis."

Representative democracy survives when citizens remain engaged, leaders prioritize the common good over partisan interests, and institutions uphold democratic norms. If division and disinformation continue to erode trust, the risk of democratic backsliding increases.

On Day 2 of his second term he did the following:

1. Fired the head of the Transportation Security Administration

2. Fired the entire Aviation Security Advisory Committee

3. Froze hiring of all Air Traffic Controllers

4. Fired 100 top FAA security officers
WTF?!?
