- HPV vax makes you faint, that is worse than cervical cancer!

Add in a side of immigrant-bashing and you have a narrative where this change seems innocuous, even reasonable. Plus it’s mostly poor kids who will get Hepatitis and die, and we’ll just blame that on immigrants too (see above).

It plays into lots of anti-Vax tropes: children are naturally perfectly healthy, and what’s more healthy than a newborn!? We must protect children, and want’s more vulnerable than a newborn?! You can only get HepB from dangerous things MY child would never do!!

Hep B is the low-hanging fruit of the childhood vaccine schedule, and that’s what made it a target, rather than anything inherent to its efficacy (high) or safety (very good even compared to other vaccines).

I *think* I read this as the cap is dead?!? But 🤷

Oh and the follow-up! Someone did the study! Based on this I expect the @USArmy to begin phasing out parachutes based on this well designed placebo-controlled trial:

There are no placebo controlled trials of parachutes, or many other lifesaving things we use all the time. Sometimes placebo controls are dangerous, unethical, or downright stupid. Doesn’t mean the intervention isn’t safe or effective.
