Programme highlight: Noise

A huge box office smash on its Korean release earlier this year, Noise is easily one of the scarier films in this year’s line-up!

Noise is a very satisfying mystery and a classic horror experience.

Programme highlight - The Degenerate: The Life and Films of Andy Milligan

Milligan is not known for great films, but he was undeniably a pioneer. Whether you’ve seen his films or not – and even if you never intend to! – The Degenerate is an entertaining, insightful film well worth your time.

I Drink Your Blood (1971) d. David E. Durston
#LynnLowry will be a guest @abertoirfest.bsky.social next week where they are showing 'The Crazies'. Even though she doesn't speak in 'I Drink Your Blood' Lynn is the star of the film for me! 🧡

PT 1: Instead of going straight to Christmas horror movies. Spend some time learning from and supporting Native American voices and experiences expressed through horror. Some of these depictions are better than others and we need to learn the difference. #nativeamerican #indigenouspeople

Vincent Price is the officially-unofficial patron of Abertoir and his daughter Victoria returns for our 20th!

She'll be talking about her father’s golden age of horror alongside author Peter Fuller; & both are joined by John L. Probert for a live commentary screening of Theatre of Blood!

Catching up with @scifrightspod.bsky.social
Not seen A.I. for a while and didn't really enjoy the exprience last time round as I'm not usually a fan of Spielberg's sentimentalism. However the deep dive by Liam and Dr. Hallam has made me reasses my opinion. There's a lot to like and not just Teddy! 🧸

Very much looking forward to this one...
Programme highlight: Reflection in a Dead Diamond

We’ve shown almost all of Cattet & Forzani’s films and their latest may just be their most accessible – yet still wildly stylish and niche – film to date!

This homage to Eurospy films may be horror-adjacent but we absolutely couldn’t resist!

Programme highlight: The Old Dark House / The Bride of Frankenstein

We’re going right back to the foundations with two films by groundbreaking director James Whale. The Old Dark House cemented an enduring trope, while The Bride of Frankenstein established one of the finest monsters in the canon.

Having melted my eyes with 6 films at FrightFest yesterday, today it’s the turn of my ears to be punished. Big Brave’s sound is crushingly intense and very loud… 🔥
