Nothing like a good Italian anti-pasta of veg. Each a bit different but all piquant...vinegar, lemon juice, rice vinegar, a bit of hot pepper, a bit briny. It really helps cut through the richness of the rest of the meal.

Also when it comes to food brands matter more to consumers. There is almost 150 years of taste and trust built in. Not all items, but many. Getting Americans to trust food brands was a long process, which is easily broken. For more, my book will be out soon.

How the dead are cared for & remembered matter. Of course people are upset when they can't venerate those who have gone before. Chinese funerary rights are about more than the person who died, like every other society & culture.

But this issue isn't new. Industry has struggled to manage the risks of lead recycling since the early 20th c, when Alice Hamilton first helped spotlight the issue.

Yes marzipanstollen!

Not a Pfeffernuesse or Diminosteine fan. I'll keep a look out for the ones you suggest. Baukuchen is tasty in small doses. Some like marzipan & jam and the marzipan w/ nougat is too sweet for me.

I planned on trying Vanillegipferl. Any other suggestions? Don't like the all Lebkuchen too much clove and texture.
