And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
Be runnin' up that building
Say, if I only could, oh

Mac & Cheese and Chex on massive sale at Harris Teeter and upscale brand of Kroger's collection of grocery stores. These are definitely cheaper than store brand, but they could be on sale as well. Thinking BigFood is feeling the pain of SNAP. Not a holiday sale, that will come next week.

As an American I find it both weird and wonderful to seem my neighborhood decked out for Halloween. Fire pits, bowls of candy & tents to greet the trick or treaters.👻👻🎃🎃🎃🎃

Confit!!! I wasn't willing to sacrifice my limited duck/goose fat so I used lard and rapeseed oil, which will be repurposed for other uses gradually. Will render the duck fat and add it to my stash for future use.

Feeling very fall so wild mushrooms (cauliflower mushroom & chanterelle) + spinach. Tossed with egg noodles, cream and bacon lardons.

Some recent meals. Poêeled chicken with lemon olives and fig and roasted young duckling stuffed with tea scented dried apricots, prunes & fresh figs with celeriac puree, potatoes roasted in duck fat and Sautéed chanterelles & peas. Fig and chanterelle season!!! Yay.

This just looks sad. $38!!! I predict is closes in <12 months, but who knows? Good luck opening this in KC, Pittsburgh, Boston or any of the cities you need to make it profitable. Maybe Hollywood, Las Vegas, NYC (doubt) but not scale you need. Clearly Musk/Tesla have no idea what they are doing

Experiment! I've eaten farina dumpling since childhood and love them, so decided to make it like polenta or grits. Pork, tomato, mushroom, leek...of course onion and garlic as needed. Very pleased. Think Farina and Shrimp

Very pleased with myself that I was told I made these 2 tables really interesting in a meeting today, on Zoom no less & sitting down. The audience was impressed. Data doesn't need to be dull. Also I really can't lecture sitting down...not in my nature.

The idea the "American" food is fast food--burgers, hot dogs, Coke, pizza is so 1985. I miss the wonderful variety of restaurants in the US. If you haven't read Smokestack Lightning you should. Brilliant photos and stories of BBQ.
