you doing okay? are you safe and everything
November 10, 2025 at 11:40 PM
(also honestly we should maybe move this to DMs since we have so many threads going on at the same time now)
November 10, 2025 at 11:33 PM
do you know of any other "yuri games" other than signalis? i played through koei tecmo's yuri rpg blue reflection and had p mixed feelings about it but i'm kinda intrigued by the plot of the sequel
November 10, 2025 at 11:33 PM
we have very similar taste it seems. i think you're right that it's prob the best non-VN yuri game (though imo the best video game yuri is between cloud and aerith...)

i was kinda hoping HDWR would run for so long that we'd get to see miwa and saeko stumble through their 70s and 80s as weary battle-worn lesbians but i suppose all good things must come to an end yadda yadda

like one of the main things that appeals most to me about yuri w adults is that it has the potential to address some of the dynamics that normally aren't possible w teens -- e.g. someone who's never been w a woman + a dyke who's been jaded by a lifetime of chasing straight people
November 10, 2025 at 11:25 PM
i get that reasoning! though i will say that after re-reading even though we're adults recently (it's been a minute since i've revisited run away w me, girl) i thought the high school stuff was a necessary device for illustrating the two leads' differing relationships w their sexuality
November 10, 2025 at 11:22 PM
(at least where i am in the story -- idk which translation you've been reading but i'm keeping pace w ave lilium)
November 10, 2025 at 11:19 PM
i agree w that, though i do think sendai seems much more aware of how directly her family relationships have shaped her desire to seek solace in miyagi -- miyagi on the other hand is only barely able to admit to herself that she wants intimacy her other friendships cannot provide
November 10, 2025 at 11:18 PM
but again her self-loathing is one of the things that makes her so relatable
November 10, 2025 at 11:14 PM
imo one of the most devastating moments is when she encounters her otherside self and identifies how much desperate longing she harbors for toriko through her doppelganger's intense gaze. it's tragic to witness the dissonance between her self-compassion and survival instinct
November 10, 2025 at 11:13 PM
and you know i love that for her. i would never dream of getting in between a monster girl and her meal. i would just prefer she maybe at least leave the cover intact -- like if she could just stick to its bowels or something
November 10, 2025 at 11:02 PM
are you a fan of stuff by takako shimura (even though we're adults, sweet blue flowers, wandering son) or battan (run away with me, girl)?
November 6, 2025 at 2:06 AM
miwa from HDWR is my pfp! :) it's my second-fave yuri manga after OP. shimeji simulation has been on my backlog for forever, so maybe i'm due for a tsukumizu winter. and i hadn't heard of ikoku nikki! i'll bookmark it
November 6, 2025 at 2:04 AM
i def will! the current manga adaptation took some time to grow on me (i actually quite liked the 4-koma) but over time i've come to appreciate how well-written both of the leads are
November 6, 2025 at 2:00 AM
one thing i love about OP is the way it externalizes sorawo's fears and doubts, forcing her to confront them as terrifying net lore tulpas. i find her painfully relatable sometimes
November 6, 2025 at 1:58 AM
you're totally right, i feel like miyagi's boneheaded in a different way -- her delusions are less rooted in self-loathing and more in her repressed desires. sorawo's tattered self-image on the other hand comes from unacknowledged trauma
November 6, 2025 at 1:56 AM
do you have any other recs btw? i'm thinking of starting the adashima LN too but other than that i'm mostly familiar w manga when it comes to yuri
