When I see tweets like this I see it as a mark of a lack of intelligence. The "analysis" here is so stupid on its face. Bluesky has its issues, but "failed"? What is the metric? Twitter is teeming with bots and Nazis, that is demonstrably worse! I use both, but I am honest about their differences.

The reason Bluesky failed is cause they did not capitalize in the slightest on the mass exodus. They just sat on their ass and kept the platform mediocre and not a true successor.
It's not like large platforms haven't been replaced before, like Discord murked Skype.

Takaichi is a hard-line conservative and hard-line nationalist. She has expressed social conservative views including opposition to same-sex marriage and support for requiring couples to share a surname after marriage. She said that a government gender equality plan in December 2020 could "destroy the social structure based on family units". Takaichi also opposes the law being changed to allow for a woman to be able to become the emperor of Japan.

Takaichi supports punishing media outlets that criticise Japan's government and imprisoning those who damage Japan's national flag. In 2014 she hosted office visits for far-right extremists. Also in 2014, a photo surfaced of Takaichi pictured for an advert in a Tokyo magazine endorsing a 1994 book titled "Hitler's Election Strategy."

In regards to the economy, she would continue Abenomics.

With regards to foreign policy, Takaichi supports revising article 9 of the Japanese constitution which prohibits Japan from entering armed conflict. A China-hawk, she has been critical of Chinese economic practices such as intellectual property theft and has supported less economic dependence on China.

Takaichi has said that war crimes committed by Japan in World War II have been exaggerated. She takes a negative view of the Kono Statement and the Murayama Statement, which acknowledged Japanese war crimes, including comfort women. In an appearance on a television program on 18 August 2002, Takaichi was asked, "Do you think Japan's war after the Manchurian Incident was a war of self-defence?" to which she replied, "I think it was a war for security." In April and August 2024, she visited the Yasukuni Shrine, both times signing as minister of state. She has made regular other visits to the shrine, which memorialises Class A war criminals from World War II.

MANKATO, Minnesota (AP) — Charlie Kirk stood 80 miles from where George Floyd was murdered, faced an overwhelmingly white audience, and declared he was going to say things “no one dares say out loud.”

What followed was an avalanche of aspersions and debunked claims about Floyd, the Black man whose death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer set off a global reckoning over racial injustice and broad calls for change. But the white conservative agitator had a counter view: Floyd was a “scumbag,” he said, unworthy of the attention.

The insult lodged at Floyd, a 46-year-old father suspected of passing off a counterfeit $20 bill, was intended to be shocking. But anyone familiar with Kirk shouldn’t be surprised. For years, the conservative provocateur and his group, Turning Point USA, have built a following inflaming racial divides and stoking outrage. Kirk thrived during President Donald Trump’s tenure. He landed speaking spots at the Republican National Convention in 2016 and 2020 and occasionally counseled Trump on campaign messaging and tactics.

Now the 28-year-old is expanding his reach, trying to rally a next generation of aggrieved white conservatives. On a tour of college towns, he blasts schools and local governments for teaching about racism, with a confrontational style some call dangerous. Yet Kirk is drawing large crowds of millennials and Gen Zers, millions of online followers and donor cash, often with little media attention.

Kirk is stoking fear among a group that is coming of age in a time of social restlessness, said Nekima Levy Armstrong, a Minneapolis civil rights lawyer and activist.

“He’s taking the discontent that some people may be experiencing and combining it with racial animus, which is a dangerous recipe in a country that is still in the midst of racial turmoil,” she said.
