Lots of opinions. Not an expert. Old.
Mostly plays Sea of Thieves. Occasionally chats about nerdy interests like comics, games, movies, etc.
Apparently there is a free version that doesn't require scanning. But to be honest, I'm also skeptical of the tech, nor do I see the need for it given how good the game's sound was already.

But yeah, the game is in a weird spot, and I'm not sure what it's future holds. I try to give the dev's some amount of patience and understanding, but honestly this season is the first in a while I just haven't devoted as much time too, despite still getting all the time limited content.

I was rather disappointed that the latest survey only focused on "toxicity" in the game. While I do think that is an issue that plays a role in the game's perception, it's also something that is far from new. I was really wanting to give them more feedback on this specific season.

I think they successfully touched on most of these to one extent or another this season, but the problem is that it was rather underwhelming overall. It's also hard to tell what the game's status quo will be going forward with how over tuned the new content has been.

The broken up season is the new model going forward, and was supposedly to help balance all the plates they want to spin; major new features, updates to old features, continuing lore, limited time events, bug fixes, and general quality improvements.

I do think delaying is better than trying to push out a half-baked season. It just doesn't inspire confidence, especially when the prior season we are extending is so middling.

I do agree it's a bad look with the new season delayed and the next known big feature requiring a subscription. I kind of get the need to have a revenue stream to afford the additional private servers, but also fear it's not going to be worth the cost for most players.

It's a very weird business model, but definitely one started by the partner company. I'm just hoping the improvements to the base game sound are worth it, and if not it can be toggled off.

You can buy the same kind of custom "pack" for Call of Duty. I assume most just don't use it.
November 13, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Yeah, same happened for me.
November 13, 2025 at 3:42 PM
The company they're partnering with has done this before for other games, and reviews for those have been lackluster at best. Some claim it sacrifices sound quality for the "spatial" effect.

Frankly, paying $20 for them to scan my head for "better" sound when it's fine as is just isn't for me.

Dear ears. D-ears, if you will.

All that to say I apologize for the unneeded advice. I understand it's different for everyone, but I do sympathize and hope you are able to figure out what works for you.

Fair. I do understand that knowing is often very different than feeling, especially in regards to mental health. I have my own struggles with anxiety, and even though I know it's a liar, it can still get it's claws in me. I guess I'm fortunate that for me gaming is often an escape from it.

Having a crew you vibe with really makes the game better. I lucked into a very chill group, and likely would have quite the game long ago without. It helps that outside of interpersonal drama that's possible with any new group, there really isn't an incentive to betray your crew.

Only ones to be overly anxious about are the minority of assholes who insist on belittling anyone else in game. In that situation report and change servers. No reason to give them your time if you don't have the spoons to deal with it.

If it helps, most ships are just as nervous about you, or so focused on their own goals they aren't giving you much thought if they've noticed you at all. A few may come over to start a fight, but even then they are going to care about what they can steal from you more than how you are playing.

Not a bad idea. It's not a terrible bonus if you are already signed up for Game Pass and don't have the emote yet. Just not a good reason to sign up again if you are not interested otherwise.

In fact, I already have the spare ancient coins to just grab it, which I might just do. Seems a fun dance.

It explores cyclical abuse really well, with the monster taking on the same traits when he finally goes full revenge mode against Victor. “Why won’t you learn unless I hurt you?”

Bro it's a bad analogy. And "probably" safer doesn't mean shit when the product is actively encouraging people to commit suicide.

This presumes there is only one car company, and that having a chat bot is as important as owning a personal vehicle, and I'm not sure which is weirder.
November 7, 2025 at 9:26 PM
There are text to speech programs that don't require LLM's like chatGPT. Asking that program to read anything is as likely to make up an article whole cloth as it is to accurately read out a real one.

You can and should argue that vehicle's are inherently dangerous, but at least they don't actively encourage you to crash. (Well, with the possible exception of a Tesla...)
