To you then, who aspires to seek knowledge, reflect upon these characteristics. Know that these characteristics are among the major diseases of the heart, and they have but one seedbed: love of this world. For that reason, the Messenger of Allah said, "Love of this world is the cause of every sin" (Shu'ab al-Iman)

Lessons learned: There are unfakeable signals you can use to test an actor for alignment. This is easy to do if you collapse “malicious” and “incompetent” into one category2. Malicious actors are incentivized to hide these unfakeable signals - because it makes them less likely to survive Good actors, AND incompetent actors, are BOTH incentivized to surface these signals. The incompetent actor is “punished” through losing control, but that’s only a temporary setback - they are rewarded by surviving / learning / growing Therefore: in a hostile information environment where everyone claims to be “a good actor”, we can take them at their word and thus expect that ALL actors would propagate these unfakeable signals/tests of alignment. Anyone who opposes this is thus either malicious, or incompetent
