Mark, have you had a chance to ponder this novel idea to get dark money out of our elections?

The Corporate Power Reset That Makes Citizens United Irrelevant
By using their authority to define what corporations are—and what powers they hold—states can end the era of corporate and dark money in U.S. politics.

Hi Warren - quick question for you please. A thoughtful trader friend (top-notch central bank watcher) suggested Kevin Warsh is a lock-in for Powell replacement. Have you met him? Any thoughts on how fiscal/monetary mix under Bessent (lead) and Warsh (supporting actor) (1/2)

Sound deduction.
I know US media finds it inappropriate, but "we haven't even discussed the specifics" of security guarantees gives the game away.

Supposedly pursuing peace for 8 months, and haven't even talked about a key feature? Either total incompetence, or not really after peace, and should be covered as such.
[Q]: You ruled out boots on the ground in Ukraine, but how would air support as part of a security guarantee be any different? Wouldn't those US airmen also be in danger?

Trump: Well, you don't know what security guarantee because we haven't even discussed the specifics of it.

Very thoughtful piece.
"Generative AI is a tool for false nostalgia of a past utopia that didn’t really exist, for lying that officials making things worse have accomplished admirable feats, for confusing and frustrating people with a “firehose of falsehood,” and for acclimating them to atrocities."
The Third Algorithm
ChatGPT and other generative AI isn't about to create superintelligence, but even if what we see now is it, the impact is on the scale of Google search and algorithmic social media, except maybe worse

Note to GOP: take a lesson from the way Catholic church addressed their abuse scandal. Sweeping Epstein case under the rug will only make matters worse. The truth shall set you free.

Read Simon White on Bbg this week about robust USA capital markets. Don't take it for granted. 1/3 of the USA electorate is so freaking apathetic they can't be bothered to vote, 1/3 doesn't give a rat's a$s about the rule of law. Global investors are taking note.

ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago.

Trump Team (2022-24): Peace in Ukraine is so easy, we’ll accomplish it in a day.

Trump Team (2025): Hey you, Ukraine, give Putin what he wants.

Ukraine: No.

Trump Team: Hey you, Europe. Cut off Ukraine so they get scared and surrender.

Europe: No, shan’t.

Trump Team: Well, we’re out of ideas.

Vietnam has been one of the most pro-US countries in the world, in part due to concern about China.

US had a good trade deal with Vietnam and 10 others that excluded China (TPP), which Trump scrapped in his first term, promising better deals, getting none.

Now he’s got Vietnam cozying up to China.
(Reuters) - China and Vietnam signed dozens of cooperation deals on Monday, including on production and supply chains as well as railway cooperation, as Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Southeast Asian nation, footage of the signed documents seen by Reuters showed.

No country on earth has an even trade balance with every other, but the country that gets closest is North Korea.

If you become an impoverished, repressed pariah state, you too can have trade balances near zero!

Amen, brother. Scream it from the rooftops.
As a local cop, I’d like to say that dismantling of social services by the federal government, which helps fund vital services & programs for my neighbors, is insane.
It’s anti-fiscal
It’s anti-smart
It’s anti-community
And
It’s pro-misery
It’s pro-cruelty
Hell, it’s pro-crime
