If you blame/attack Democrats more than Republicans, you are not on the left.

You know, people in fascist regimes throughout history all say the same thing as they’re being carted off to the camps:

“I just wish I’d spent more time and energy nitpicking the people who wanted to stop all this.”
Honestly, one of the most ominous trends over the last several years is how much more of Bellingcat's coverage is about events in the U.S.....
We've analysed this video of the shooting of Renee Nicole Good yesterday in Minneapolis frame-by-frame to highlight the positioning of the gun and phone in the ICE agent's hands.

Something that really bothers me is that the media treats all anti-Trump discourse as the same and then balances against that.

The Bulwark is conservative. They're mostly Bush alums and neocons (current and former). They are openly calling this administration fascists too.

There's your balance.
Hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue when people are working from shared values. MAGA has a totally different worldview which prizes domination of the out-group as its highest good.

They’re fascists.

The Distance Between Renee Good and Ashli Babbitt Is Fascism
It’s not a hypocrisy. It’s a coherent worldview.

Vulnerability in public (everyone is so irony poisoned now) is increasingly rare and brave, and we should really appreciate it when we see it.

The funniest part of this was how many people on Bluesky misunderstood what this bill was and were chastising the Democrats who voted for it.

Reporters: Really think about how you choose to cover this. Imagine if this answer from a government official happened in another country. How would you characterize it?
Noem: "What happened was our officers were out trying to get a car stuck out of the snow when they were surrounded and assaulted and blocked in by protesters ... this was an act of domestic terrorism" (It was 40 degrees in Minneapolis yesterday and snow was melting ... )
January 8, 2026 at 5:21 PM
The fact that they already do this and none of these people know about it is all the evidence you need that it's not the Dems' messaging that's the problem.

It's that the algorithmically generated information environment simply will never serve it to these folks because they don't *want* to see it.
Set up a shadow admin and have continuous press as a result. Daily and Hourly.

We expect our fake investigation will arrive at the conclusion we’ve already used motivated reasoning to decide.
Noem refuses to provide any details about the the background of the ICE officer who killed Renee Good, but says "we expect that all the policies and procedures of review will be exactly that he acted appropriately"
January 8, 2026 at 5:12 PM
More lies.
Noem on Minnesota officials: "They have not been cut out. They don't have any jurisdiction in this investigation."
January 8, 2026 at 5:06 PM
This is true, but I also think it highlights just how addictive these platforms are.

People cannot fathom giving it up for any reason. Seems like maybe we should interrogate that a bit?
genuinely pathetic to see people still trying to justify staying on Twitter in 2026. embarrassing! degrading!

you are publicly advertising that you are a sad little piglet who lives for being ritually degraded by Nazi pedophiles!

This is completely unacceptable.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says they've been informed by the FBI that US DOJ has said FBI will solely lead the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's killing by a federal officer. State investigators no longer have access to "case materials, scene evidence/investigative interviews"

Couldn't agree more that it's time for Americans to say "enough."

They're saying it's OK to kill anyone they don't like. When are people (i.e. Republicans) going to say enough is enough with this fascist administration?
Rep. Randy Fine: "It's time for Americans to say 'enough,' and if you get in the way of the government repelling a foreign invasion, you're gonna end up just like that lady did yesterday."
January 8, 2026 at 4:10 PM
Predictably, the replies and quotes are people either:
1. Nitpicking this completely normal and fair statement.
2. Screaming "DO SOMETHING" as though their own endless shitting on Democrats isn't what led to the party being in the minority and thus being unable to "do something."
Jeffries: "The killing of Renee Nicole Good was an abomination, a disgrace, and blood is clearly on the hands of those individuals within the admin who have been pushing an extreme policy that has nothing to do with immigration enforcement connected to removing violent felons from this country"

Social media is the problem. All of it.

Until its most addicted users confront that these things are inherent to social media (on all sides) and come up with real mechanisms for reducing the ability for emotionally manipulative nonsense to permeate, it will continue.
This is the third Instagram video I’ve seen that’s just a blatant lie about Mamdani and the fare hikes. It’s truly insidious and seems at least somewhat coordinated.

It’s pretty funny that the only time people on here admit they have an addiction to shitting on Democrats is when they can use it to sell their own legitimacy in complimenting a Dem.

Gotta point out you shit on them all the time or Bluesky will ignore your compliment!
Lotta people get mad at me when I criticize Democratic messaging but THIS IS HOW DEMOCRATS SHOULD BE TALKING. Like normal people using normal language to communicate normal human emotions about the fucked up situation.

THIS.
Q: After you told ICE to get the F out, Republicans are criticizing you for escalating tensions

FREY: I'm sorry if I offered their Disney princess ears, but if we're talking about what's inflammatory, on one hand you got someone who dropped an F bomb & on other you have someone who killed someone

The replies and quotes on this are unhinged.

This site has completely fallen to accelerationist lunatics. I’m calling it now: We’re gonna lose the midterms because of protests and calls to abolish DHS, and these same people will blame the Democrats who tried to stay on message.

Goddamnit.
Trump wants a show. Don’t give it to him.

The press is so unbelievably ill-matched to cover this moment. Every day they show us why.

It is not a violation of journalism ethics to plainly state the truth, even if doing so makes you sound like you’re aligned to a particular party.

They are so afraid of sounding biased, they’d rather lie.

I am begging you all, please do not do this. DHS (in normal times) is important!

Noem being a fascist doesn’t change that!
It's been a dark week, but I just saw someone reply to an "Abolish ICE" post with a scoldy Bluesky "Uh, try abolish DHS" and that joy will sustain me for a little while.
