"Talking straight here, the big problem in this case is that the cabinet secretaries and, ostensibly, the president of the United States are not honoring the First Amendment,” Judge William G. Young said.

Minneapolis cops this could hinge on you. Be heroes to your citizens & the nation. 1:Demand ID and face recog from ICE agents "So I can call it in &verify you aren't random thugs/kidnappers." 2:Demand a RECEIPT for every person they grab. 3:demand they erase the P&O on their lying POLICE jackets.

/6 ICE is a monument to totalitarianism, lawlessness, and bigotry. It should be ripped out and woodchippered root and branch and replaced with something focused on the concept that you can’t defend the rule of law by burning it down.

As recently as 2015, this would have been the end of a presidency. In 2026, it's a Tuesday.

it's very clear that this is a template for how they're going to approach other cities

they do not and will not have enough people to do it everywhere all at once but if you live in a city there's a very good chance that an occupying army will show up at your door in the next few years
I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Recently read (2nd time through) Larry Brooks "Story Engineering". The most thorough writing system I've seen. It is focused on novels but I've analyzed a couple of SF Hall of Fame short stories, using the structure (plot pts, pinch pts, etc.) to see how it works. So far --looks very promising.

My wife & I read the classics to each other after dinner -- having read Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men in a Boat - to Say Nothing of the Dog", we're taking a break to read Connie Willis's "To Say Nothing of the Dog." Fabulous, hilarious book -- highly recommended (#hopepunk before it's time :) )

@pbarmby.bsky.social Just read your "Galilean Crossing" flash fiction piece. Nice and detailed, elegant -- tough format to write in, but you still managed a poetic opening and some great astronomy chops! The first I've read of yours but definitely not the last.
