Geologist, lapidarist and jeweler, making jewelry that tells geological stories. Dabbles in other types of art sometimes too. Based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. https://geomagpie.wordpress.com/ Artistic alter-ego of @thenoblegasbag.bsky.social
The text beneath the motifs is from John Playfair's famous quote "The mind seemed to grow giddy by looking so far back into the abyss of time." Here is a close up of the original colour motif - water colour pencils. Now I just need to decide which one I want myself 😂

I'm really impressed with the print quality on these towels. You can dry your dishes with it or you can hang it on your wall! (If you want this design on a different type of item, let me know and I can try to set it up)

Here's a photo of one of the actual items, along with the crystal that modelled for me when I was drawing. This is the cotton-linen blend with the standard edge.

GeoMagpie is mostly about jewellery that tells geological stories. But I also dabble with various other art forms, and now you can get my pencil drawing of a cluster of quartz crystals on a tea towel www.contrado.co.uk/stores/mahin...

Just finished wrapping this piece of Dracularite. This is from a block that represents the boundary between the Peterhead Granite and the Dalradian country rock. The black is a partially assimilated xenolith and the pink is fine grained chilled margin granite.

Hello World! I'm an alter-ego of @thenoblegasbag.bsky.social focused on making jewellery that tells geological stories. I collect, cut and polish my own stones (all with landowner permissions), and make jewellery that comes with a geological back story. Here is a red aventurine from Aberdeenshire.
