1. someone did a bad job writing it
2. you didn't appreciate it, for whatever reason

I've long been in love with those crazy HRE maps. But that's my first time seeing that African map, that's incredible, and deeply, deeply sad and infuriating knowing the subsequent attempt to carve all that up and then subsequently trying to fit it into the European concept of the nation state
