For sure, I imagine it would be good to do even with the original edge. I own some rods and it would probably have been better to use them but I honestly have so very little patience for finishing pieces. 😅 my Achilles heel

I did do a slightly different selvedge to give it a clean border - though I saw after a bit why they did it the other way - it gets a little curly. hence the VERY heavy blocking pictured, lol.
