once again I'm hearing a majority of people saying they have to leave social media and stop reading the news. IMO that's like a child covering their head with a pillow so the scary thing can't get them. Please care for your mental health, but you also must stay informed and engaged

people always say "it's not that serious" "twitter isn't real life" but it's because they don't understand human society or psychology. it's a cliche but twitter really *is* the town square. popular culture is deeply informed by what happens on the internet and people carry that into our daily lives
it is darkly funny to me that twitter ended up being real life after all
