And of course the jobs story has been bad since the tariff announcements, and I think we should expect September to get revised downwards going forward based on how revisions have gone lately.

I do see early signs of concern in the aggregate payroll story, with the quarterly change looking a bit soft (I'd like to see that dark green line kick up above 5% to offset the natural noise on the low end).

Look, I think the employment story is concerning but a tightly cropped look at unemployment levels isn't going to be my main point of evidence. In historical context the rate isn't that high, nor do I think the rate of change is particularly bad.

Andrew Marsh had a good game today. Michigan with >50% of receptions and yards from outside receivers is nice to see

Absolutely perfect text chain from my Maryland alumnus coworker. I felt bad for him.

More people in wineries (regardless of whether you include vineyards w/o making wine) than coal mining, at much lower pay on average, yes.

As far as I can tell, Chip Lindsey has one game as an OC or HC vs. a Venables defense, in 2017 with an Auburn team that would end up ranked #10. *Easily* their worst day on offense that year. Uh, hopefully it goes better for Bryce.

Lol my expectations for our offense were so low I don't care. Some uh questionable reffing kept this close. Ypp margin much wider disparity

@mgoseth.bsky.social this just so perfectly illustrated the Indiana-week change y'all have been talking about all summer. As someone who make a lot of charts etc for a living, just A+ illustration.

This is ridiculous, if we can through the 70's and 80's without needing to use the actual military in our cities then there's no fucking reason we need to now. This is not about crime, it's about intimidation

I'm not sure this is still true? This is the Gwinnett County board of commissioners. And the guy 2nd from left is part Chinese. Gwinnett rejected a MARTA sales tax in 2024, e.g. list of black/Hispanic/Asian voters rejected it. I think it's more complicated?

The issue was never "using the portal", at least for me. It was explicitly cutting guys, and the way he did it. I always thought it was part of an incoming coach's job to help the guys there to get better, not just cut them. www.nytimes.com/athletic/648...
