Even ignoring the obvious anti-trust red flags, this is just straight-up unprofessional behavior on every single level. Anyone who thinks this conduct is acceptable (whether it be from an artist, actor, executive, or politician) really needs to take some etiquette classes.

Honestly, the DVD format in general (and in particular) may as well be the greatest thing to ever happen to film and television as mediums at this point
