We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

After repeatedly implementing unwanted or ineffective features under the false premise of safety, I can't say I am surprised about this, but I am disappointed.

For anyone trying to play the Linux version of #Silksong and having issues with their XBox controller inputs:

Open`$HOME/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight Silksong/AppConfig.ini` and change `NativeInput=1` to `NativeInput=0`; save the file and restart the game.

I clearly had too much trust into the people steering the future Android ...

Maybe this will make more people create PWAs instead of native apps, before Google kneecaps those too 🤷

copoilot has been creating bugs since the day it was first used ... (creating, as in "causing") 😎

this is awful news btw, next step: have copilot triage the barrage or garbage requests and create a slop-spiral

Genshin Impact Act V might make the game worth playing just for the story. Like a show that gets good after 4 seasons.

Great characters, plot, presentation and pacing. It still has slow-walk and standing-around sections that should be cutscenes, but way less so than Acts I - IV.

People are creating the imaginary software packages LLMs invent (i.e. lie about existing) when generating code, so instead of getting a compilation error, people will actually install malware. 🤣

Speaking of frontend development: why TF has it become trendy to create dropdown menus with a SINGLE element? 😩

This is Discord's new UI, but they are not the only offenders:

Turns out the #MonsterHunterWilds benchmark was not representative of the final product 🙃

The game supposedly runs even worse than the fundamentally broken open beta build(s) 🎉

Imagine being paid to deal with Copyright issues, and telling people that semi-randomly machine-arranged words, guided by "sufficient human contribution", constitute copyrightable material ...

Technical ignorance, greed or something else? 🤔

I really appreciate the creators of the 2nd season of Severance respecting their viewers enough to not have a single flashback or retelling of what happened in season one ✨

(not sarcasm, I was really pleasantly surprised)

I wonder if the general public will ever understand that LargeLanguageModels do not think or reason, but simply regurgitate stringed-together pieces of the LANGUAGE used to build the LANGUAGE MODEL, before the next big investor bait gets popular

The orange line results in TWICE the memory usage of the purple one 🙃

I know, thinking about memory usage of a Node.js process is like trying to optimize caloric intake while choosing between different sugary sodas, but I was still surprised by npm behaving this naively.
