puts you in a position of unease and confusion and the feeling of being trapped, emulating the emotions of the characters on screen. There’s so many half star reviews from people who just simply did not understand it at all. Was it amazing? No. But it was certainly an interesting piece of art.

It was an interesting horror/sci-fi that utilizes a very liminal aesthetic and eeriness to convey a feeling of being utterly trapped and out of control. It’s about a weird alien species that traps human couples alone in this neighborhood and uses a human appearing child to learn from the humans.

For sure, but I’m specifically talking about people who recognize they are being abused and consciously decide to keep forgiving them by creating this narrative that they’re just too good of a person to let their abuser go. What you’re describing is another reason why people stay with abusers.

Childhood relational trauma, caregiver abuse, childhood needs not being met, emotional neglect during development, intergenerational trauma, abandonment, consistent invasion of privacy leading to inability to create boundaries, shame based punishment… all things that lead to low self-worth…
