Two years in a row she's done a very recognisably Classic Labour tax-to-spend Budget, though this year's is more spend now-tax later. She doesn't go either big or home, rules matter to her, she doesn't do surprises; you can go mad trying to overthink it but it's in the end not that complicated

Yes. I have been wondering how all this intersects with high rates of anxiety/mental health issues, hangover from lockdown, neurodivergency at this age

Yes have several friends opting for ‘charge them rent to teach value of money etc, but actually secretly aim to keep it and return it to them as deposit when they move’

tempted to say that the other noticeable impact of the current job market is the number of kids doing a masters... starting to feel like it's almost expected in so many jobs

yes, i think it's a lot harder if you missed the boat first time round to catch up. and they know that, which is stressful.

a friend of mine whose three children all boomeranged back at various stages described it as a long period of coming home from a long day's work to find someone who had been there all day sorrowfully informing you that you were out of (hot water/bread/gin/etc)
