xTab is probably the first thing I install with a new setup. Pretty religious about it. There’ll be something similar for Firefox, etc.

I’m a thousand times better at interacting with people in the wild than on the web, but honestly, the bird app was so draining for such a long time that even "old" faces feel new. It’s nice.

Eventually just sort of became "my thing" and it's one of the reasons why I'm not a big fan of virtual backgrounds.

Easy wins: small-scale co-working space, running (insert your sport of choice) group, volunteering, doing hobby-like things (like learning a new language) with a group and making an effort with neighbours. (Then once we had a kid, that helped massively too.)

Simultaneously moved countries and started WFH. Then did it again during the pandemic, because evidently I’m a sucker for punishment. We made it work by being very intentional about a community-centric lifestyle.
