Kudagitsune are native to mountain shaman traditions of Nagano Prefecture, but have spread throughout other mountainous regions of central and eastern Japan. In the wild, kudagitsune behave like other small mammals like foxes or weasels and avoid human contact. 🧵⬇️

Kudagitsune are used by sorcerers in divination rituals due to their great magical abilities; or curse their enemies (or their clients’ enemies), since they are a type of tsukimono: spirits able to haunt, possess and manipulate humans. 🧵⬇️
