Sometimes when I ride the train I just wear headphones with no music or audio playing. I don't know why

There's been a slow shift in expectations in QA over the years to produce test automation with little to no effort to compensate or upskill workers. Kinda sucks. Basically expecting CS grad level of knowledge, but paying shit salaries and pressuring aging staff.

You'll rarely know what someone actually believes unless you already agree with them

SQLite seems to be the solution to the majority of my data related problems

Do people consider coding something like an online matrix calculator too simple of a project (multiplication, gaussian elimination, etc)? Where's the line between practical portfolio and cute little toy?

I often feel like I'm bad at coding until I'm actually coding and see it work.

Trying to have less opinions this year

I signed up for Bluesky to connect with other developers and software testers, as well as follow news about film and tv. Keep it to interests and hobbies.

Unfortunately, being a Canadian, I'm realizing the political noise and news cycle is on my door step and it's painfully impossible to ignore.

Going from using Spring Data JPA to plain ol' JDBC is a little painful.

Java's stream API is so useful and cool

What kind of tools are you using to automate QA and your software testing? I'm on #java, #cucumber, #selenium, and I've really been enjoying it. I'm still getting a hang of best practices for generating and managing test data. #QA #automation #software #programminh

Gotta always challenge your assumptions when programming. "Why's my query failing? Surely it can't be because no one on our QA team hasn't updated the db credentials in over a year."

That was exactly it. I spent a couple hours debugging to just discover the credentials were incorrect.

Working with Pico Containers in #Cucumber and #java. Building a fairly unique automation process of modifying a large dataset. Fun stuff

Built a console version of tic-tac-toe in Java. Sometimes I like to bring it back to basics to minimize associating coding with pressure at work or school and kill the imposter syndrome. Little victories build confidence. Going to learn minimax algo next and implement it

I'm long overdue for building a portfolio site. Or just some sort of personal website to make it easier to network and connect with other developers. What makes portfolios and personal sites stand out to you? #java #webdev #coding #programming

Pretty sure I just failed my Operating Systems exam. I just want to code.

Why do we still hold any value for movie critics reviews as a metric of quality in an internet age? Publications used to do it, because they held the microphone. But now we're all in the same room. Broadcasting one person's opinions just seems weird in context now when you can read anyone's.

I'm waiting for people to start making memes combining Luigi, the Nintendo character, with Luigi, the adjuster.

Any other #Java developers on here care about QA automation? Any cucumber users? Been working as a Jr QA eng for a few months and finally been given the reigns to build my own automation. Really interesting side of programming, didn't think I'd enjoy it this much. Open to connecting and discussions
