Confocal microscopy shows YukB clusters at many points in the bacterial cell. The number of these clusters are drastically reduced without YukD, suggesting they correspond to core units or larger assemblies. Competition assays confirmed YukD is essential for T7SSb-mediated bacterial killing.

YukD stabilizes the YukB FHA domain and in turn promotes assembly of the YukC dimer. This forms the core building block (1:2:1 stoichiometry)
We observed multiple oligomeric states and propose a model for hexameric assembly.
