The good news is, to maintain it after you have a licensed professional put dangerous chemicals on your head, you don't have to go back to the salon. When I had the blue hair i.e the hair in my icon, I used to use Rusk Deepshine Direct which is a semi-permanent dye that you can get online.

When I was illustrating the covers for the InCryptid short stories featuring Antimony--and then again when I was designing her dingbat for the novels--I did a serious deep dive into Derby girls. I didn't want anyone reading the books to point at the skates or gear and go 'those aren't right'.

One of the greatest joys of my life was sending Seanan Maguire a list of potential derby girl names for the Final Girls, and one of them actually making the cut! possibly more than one but definitely one that I remember as being mine.

The mistake is believing that it's Chicago. It is very much Chicagoland. Specifically Kenilworth or Evanston, I believe.
