Interesting. Completely different for me but to each their own. I found HS to be more of a “two way street” and more realistic practice than Duo.

My issue with Duo is the incentive for micro transactions and the constraints of lessons that are only a minute long. Glad it worked for you though

My high school was way better than duo. The teacher speaks in Spanish to you, forcing you to use context clues to learn. You learn grammar rules and watch videos in the native language. HS classes also aren’t incentivized to teach you at the slowest pace possible. Not really comparable to Duo at all

Except even at the same age, baby boomers have always made up a larger share of the wealth than the generations that came after them

I don’t know what the right thing to do is. Is it better to look at these jackwads in the face and say “Jesus Christ you are such a jackwad” or is it better to say “ivermectin probably won’t be a good cancer therapy for x y and z reasons but it’s good that researchers are still looking into it”?

The silver lining is that, hopefully, the rest of the world can build something more equitable than just "What the US says goes."

But what will most likely happen is that some other superpower will fill the void.

There is definitely a different universe where the pandemic leads to universal healthcare, better global cooperation, and a focus on quality of life instead of the economy and now we are so far from any of that. If a global pandemic wasn't enough to force real change then what can?

“Only a crisis produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions taken depend on the ideas lying around. Our basic function is to develop alternatives to existing policies and keep them available until the politically impossible becomes inevitable"

We failed to have alternatives ready
