So, I didn't post these at the time, but the sketch for the cover illustration on RABID DOGS blew me out of the water, considering the silly mock up I gave her. Absolutely spot on and EXACTLY the spooky forest urban fantasy vibe I was shooting for.

Fun thing about Morgan Burke: she's kinda cringe & doesn't give a fuck.

Elemental power is tied to force of will and personal belief in one's magic. Being a giant goddamn nerd, she's borrowed verbal components from all sorts of SFF pop culture. It's the worst, but also I kinda like that about her?

“They used to fear us, you know.” I drew the edge of a talon over the face of her glass coffin. Chrome and steel, the vertical-standing vessel was a masterpiece of engineering. Frigid to the touch, it represented a truly monumental effort to preserve a single human specimen, set within. My heart, despite its persistent impediment, tightened as I gazed upon the blonde beauty in stasis. The taper of her jawline, the shape of her nose… she looked just like her. “What are you on about?” A voice carried to me from the surrounding murk. I closed my eyes and let the moment slip. “I dunno.” I stepped back and fidgeted with the breast pocket of my slate gray coveralls. “Some grandiose bullshit my grandsire used to go on about.” The echoing voice let out a judgmental tisk. “How is ol’ Tiberius these days?” I snorted, glad to discard the maudlin in favor of some casual bullshitting. “Same as ever, I suspect.” I waited a beat. “Locked in a concrete coffin at the bottom of the Thames.”
