And Mutual information as how close to independent are two variables in a joint distribution is also a nice intuition.

KL Divergence is much easier to remember as "relative entropy". It's exactly that and also helps understanding what entropy is.

How I organize my Obsidian content including technical content, thoughts and books I've read.
I'll keep this during 2025 and see how it works for me, I'm confident.

We all start from 0 and it's kind of embarrassing compared to many.
Also It's taking a long time and of course not sure if it's worth the time but:

1) it's doing better recently and there are lots of opportunities if well executed
2) super proud of making something work and people paying for it.

I fell again in @vickiboykis.com trap and I spent enough time wandering trough the links that guide me note after note for more time that I can say. I had to bookmark a few references for another day.
But before leaving, I thought "I can read this one that is short enough"

Finally going up again? 2025 could begin with good news...

I started https://buff.ly/3DtYRgK one year ago using No-code, airtable free tier and having 0 knowledge about what I was doing or even how to setup a site, a custom domain, what the hell is stripe.

I've got thousands of ecommerce images with just IDs and 1-2 photos each. To find similar images, I've used #OpenAI CLIP and ResNet for embeddings and Faiss for similarity. The results are pretty good, but is there a better way without overcomplicating things? Any other suggestions? #AI

A few "I'm not interested in this post" clicks on X and my *for you* feed changed abruptly, back to tech and close to my following base.
It needs a bit of cleaning from time to time but it seems to work quite well.

I'm liking this social media app to schedule and crosspost. It feels like a whole new experience to communicate here, I highly recommend lowering the barrier with this. Feels like easy mode.
It's maybe a little less authentic/impulsive but great I can get that when I want.

I hate the feeling of anxiety before talking about time-off / holidays in a new job, specially without clear policy about them. In my experience usually it all ended well but I still feel weird about it.
Then you think, F-it, I need my time off, in the future I will regret if I don't do it 😅

Since moving from Nocode to my own NextJS deploy SEO seems to be doing better. I'm getting newsletter subscribers in a slow but steady fashion which didn't happen before.

And now, moving away from free tier of Airtable and use my own postgres, I'm getting more google jobposts.

Motivation is the key, and losing it is probably affecting you.

👊"I would hit my wrist (without hurting!) and took a deep breath, then drop the phone"

🧳"If you can afford it, change your job, take a sabbatical, take some time and look for what you really want."

how motivation fluctuates from one moment to another is impressive. a while ago I was bored, unwilling to work, write, read, nothing, nihilist one would say.

a hour and a half later (and a walk in the middle) I'm energetic, writing, suffering from the short amount of time the day has left....

Starting a curated list of personal #MachineLearning and data science resources I find valuable. First place to look before googling the ocean of regular stuff.

🤯#Python Pandas tip: Create timeseries data based on 2M rows without blowing up the RAM
Situation
I have a 2M rows dataframe with sales data of different products in stores per day. (a few 1000s prods in 30 stores) Not all of them sell everywhere. [1/6]
