1) It turned out I was kind of good at programming?, and

2) I fell into a hobby that prompted me to want to travel to Japan a lot (thanks, KAT-TUN).

I shelved the novel (correct choice in hindsight, don’t worry : ), found a programming job that would fund my Japan trips, and the rest is history…

I like shrimp tempura, but Tenya doesn’t let you buy a meal that’s all shrimp—so I basically end up with two pieces of shrimp + lots of mysterious deep-fried veggies I have to pretend to nibble at… 😅

(I also tend to prefer a stronger flavored sauce than theirs, like a spicy mayo, etc.)
