I guess that's my point, it is already the case that the top 8 seeds are kept apart if they win their groups, and it's just a minor rejig in the way they are then paired in the qf's. It's all pie in the sky though as a lot of top seeds fail to win their group, which is what throws up fun L16 / QF's

FWIW, the knockout stages are always set up to keep group winners apart as long as possible; it's only a minor change. It's also reliant on the top 4 seeds all winning their groups, which is very rare, it has only happened once since they started factoring FIFA ranking into seeding in 1998.

Leaning that way, have done a first draft but expect a decent amount to change...

I'm still considering one Crystal Palace mid/fwd as a wildcard, Man Utd still give up high quality chances but their away European game on Thursday puts me off a bit.

I've got something very similar, just Schade instead of Woltemade (and Digne instead of Pau but same idea).

The good thing is a FH cancels transfers made that GW so you don't have to commit early, whereas you can't cancel a FH once you activate it. I'm going to carry on like I'm not using it and only activate it late on when 100% sure I am.
