You could have a look at Project Gutenberg. Lots of old novels up there that are fun for students. Train it on the complete works of Poe

Yeah, this has been a problem for ages. As a viewer, you can delete the overlay elements from the developer console. So it should be possible to write a browser plugin that automatically removes the overlay. Would fully support the development of such a plugin

Am I right in saying that an approach like this is good practice anyway because the if statement solution would tie the flickering to the framerate, which could cause issues down the line?

I actually really enjoyed working on this idea. I do think there is something here, so I'm going to bring it to the next board game testing night in Tree House (assuming they'll have me). It would be really nice to share this with other gamers.
