Old forts, cool cars, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Drums, Guitars, Synths & Gear, CAD, Apollo/Skylab, and too much crap cluttering my room.

For timeline traffic management, I may or may not follow back. Nothing personal!
Forts!
Today's laptop lock screen.

Ugly!!
This is a place I lived in for 3 months, a lifetime ago. Someone took the "meh" decor and made it into...this. This is the second such former home given the "bleah primery/ putty gray with white cabinetry" treatment. Yeah, start neutral, there's less to undo when you move in. Still ugly. /1

IN WHICH...gooooooogle's a.i. solution is a lying sack, part no. (significant digits of Pi).

I used to LIVE on Bradley Avenue.😒

Shorter google ai: "yeah, I suck, but it's not my fault."

The most awesome of them is my great-grandmother, Georgie Parazine, who in the 1930s carried homemade soup to children at a nearby school for lunch.
Here she is in 1967 with a tiny me and my mother; she died 7 months after I was born. /2

The only non-plant life I encountered was a nervy, annoyed armadillo who also didn't want people around.
At Battery Worth, part of the parking lot was given over to all the recovered junk from ruined offices, the store, the museum. Drink machines, water fountains, desks, chairs... /2

Forts!!
Well, Ft. Pickens Road, which was cut in several places by Hurricane Ivan's surge in 2004. In Nov. 2006, I did a hike & bike trip to the utterly abandoned National Park and its fort. No other people--hell, no birds!--for miles around. Deafening silence you could feel in your ears. /1

Rocks!
My laptop changes lock screen backgrounds every few days. Tonight, I realized that I can hit PrtSc for a screenshot--and that's after 3 years not knowing this. :/
So--here's Colinas Canyon in Angola. I can imagine busy little Jawas scouring the sands and rocks, looking for useful scraps....

Sixteen years on, this is still one of my favorite 'shop projects.
Two others: ted cruz and a tesla; "wild bill" donohue, the catholic crusader!

True every year: screw "black friday" in all its forms and hype.

Forts McRee and Sumter, together for the first time! Both resin, PicoArmor, 1/900 gaming scale.
November 17, 2025 at 4:44 PM
Fort Sumter, formerly of South Carolina, occupied by traitors, demolished by Americans. 1/900, PicoArmor, about $13 resin.

Kind of close, but really out of proportion. I think I have a cab drawing comparing this to the original. Still, very good detail for such a small model.

Fort McRee, formerly of Pensacola, occupied by traitors, destroyed by Americans, 1861. 1/900, resin, PicoArmor. /1

Two inch Skeletor from my filament printer vs. a resin print 1/2" bow section of the USS Cygnus ("The Black Hole")

HO HO HO (2/2)
now I have a star destroyer
(The other half of the BanDai Death Star/Star Destroyer set). Very good detail compared to the 1980s MPC kit!

So...still aches, but not like the first couple of nights. It'll be a few MONTHS, though, before the stupid thing is fit to run needles into for dialysis, so I'm still stuck with the chest mounted catheter "port." They can actually plug into these with the dialyzer so there's that. ACCESSING. 🛜⚡

Apparently, Tramadol is the only non-codeine drug my Vascular docs prescribe--and it's not covered by insurance. $34 out of pocket? NOPE.
This stuff is magical. Tylenol doesn't do much of anything for me, but my ol' buddy BC came through again! Yeah, yeah, "no aspirin."
Ooopsie. /2

@patmak.bsky.social Can you recall your post regarding the "murder bill" and dialysis? I'm trying to reconstruct a text file of stuff I had on my phone--but overwrote it with keyboard and Big Trak stuff. The one file with no backup.
(how I reacted 90 seconds later when I went looking for it)

It's martini time!
Or cocktails....

Drums!!
Well, then. I guess I'm keeping the hi-hat/kick set from a couple of months back.
I just cut down the shipping box to reclaim a 3' x 2' x 2' space in my room that I _was_ using as a trash box.
I've since added a kick drum pad so I can keep using the "bass drum" as a 2nd tom. /1
