#FolkloreThursday In 1864, a ghostly Woman in Black, veiled like a widow, appeared near Carbondale, Pennsylvania. She presaged a "black fever" epidemic, which killed 400 people and a deadly mine cave-in, which killed 14. When she reappeared in 1892, she was thought the omen of a cholera outbreak.

The most enigmatic Welsh monsters are the gwyllion (the "twilight wanderers"). Some say that they're fairy hags who lead travelers astray, others say that they're ghosts or wandering lunatics. Merlin learned prophecy from gwyllion he met as he wandered insane in the forest.
