The Israeli drone war on journalists will be studied for generations. It’s one of those idiosyncratic atrocities that will be used to illustrate a trait that’s otherwise common to all genocides - silencing all news spreading to the outside world about the genocide.

The US is responding very oddly to the assassination in Lebanon. The day before the killing they announced their carrier fleet was leaving the Mediterranean. They quickly acknowledged it was the IDF before Israel did. However, they're still providing diplomatic backing.

The strategic advantage of "technology" seems to be a relic of the 20th century and the atomic age. The thorough globalization of the economy has made access to previously "strategic" technologies available to even the smallest paramilitaries. The only real limit is manufacturing capabilities.

You can't do hand-wringing about the definition of 'genocide' when there is a broad consensus amongst human rights and international law scholars that what's happening in Gaza is genocide. All you accomplish is making yourself look like an asshole.
I think Netanyahu is terrible and the attacks on Gaza have gone way too far. I also think people like you have cheapened the word "genocide" and toss it around so recklessly that there is no upside in engaging in discussion.

One thing about this moment is it feels like the establishment is on their back foot, which makes it important to push the advantage as best we can on the left. It also means we have to brace for brutal reaction.
