Family sees I'm feeling very energized, and they'd like me to channel that into something like joining the DSA, which... that's fine. But that's not really the axis I'm operating on, and they can't get on my wavelength.

You've been lulled into a false sense of security by the incredible feats of competence our government has been performing, but you must understand that every town in this country, every sleepy suburb, is a ticking time bomb if people stop doing the work to keep them running safely.

I can't really gin up much anger or hatred for the democrats still in office. They've done what they were paid to do, and most of them have to be contemplating on a day-to-day basis how long it is before someone just snatches them up and puts them down.

very good, very practical advice and written to the high standard that you'd expect from @piccalil.li
The majority of us are a bunch of self taught people with rather spotty knowledge and that's fine! Kilian (also self taught) is here to share some of the computer science fundamentals you probably are missing with the aim to improve your code in the long term.

Your foes are far less terrifying once you know them. You must get to know your enemy, friends.

I still can't figure out why it's so dreadfully important for some people that no one Believe aliens could come. What do they have invested in it?

The pattern is telling me I'm supposed to invent some kind of metal, and that's no good because I never took chem and I don't know shit about it. Tungsten carbide. Did someone invent that already? How about nickel inconel? Already done. Crap. Anyone figure out metallic hydrogen yet?

They say that if you don't understand history, you're doomed to repeat it, and I see wisdom there but malformed. Our world runs in cycles, so you're doomed to repeat virtually everything. You must learn to live in and see through these cycles if you wish to transform them.

If I told you everything was photons and black holes, orbital trajectories and modulo math, you'd never believe me.

Earlier I asked Mycroft (who is a lifelong voracious sci-fi reader) which sci-fi authors he would consider most "visionary". He stated that he had no answer, indicating that's not an axis he would consider authors on. I laid out a definition I thought satisfactory for "visionary"...

Gotta give it up, there can't be another timeline with this mix of mysticism, insane theory crafting, software engineering, art, and TMI.
Okay, there can't be more than maybe 5 timelines like mine. On Bluesky. Maybe a handful of others on bigger sites. A bunch in China maybe.

Almost.

I'm attempting to describe people who are sure they won't get hit by a van tomorrow because they've been paying attention since yesterday, and yesterday they didn't get hit by a van. And I am a person who doesn't know if a van is going to hit me tomorrow or not, so I look for vans.
