Went to a bog.

Went on a walk with @literatureandlentils.com and found some fungus.
Bright yellow coral fungus emerging from under some leaf litter. Bright red cup fungus growing on a muddy stick. Species could possibly be Sarcoscypha occidentalis, or the stalked scarlet cup.

Amazake project was a success. Super tart and a final alcohol content of 8.5%ABV (!!)

This week for book club I'm reading "In The Land of Ninkasi" by @tatepaulette.bsky.social! I've really enjoyed it so far—it's neat to be able to learn about this culture through their beer tradition.

oh man you can do all kinds of stuff! i usually have some kind of veg ferment going, here's a pic of the sauerkraut i started a few days ago. at its simplest this is just cabbage and salt, plus spices if you want. i did this in a vac bag but a jar works just as well.
