Professor/Canada Research Chair in seismology in Victoria BC 🇨🇦. Earthquakes, active tectonics, remote sensing. Proud cat dad.
Theron has a paper in the works that suggests active surface-rupturing faulting along parts of the RMT. And there are tons of sackungen above the Trans Mtn pipeline near Valemount that look suspiciously like they were triggered by earthquakes.

You could say the same thing of earthquakes, both for their surface rupturing and landslide/tsunami/seiche triggering potential

The lack of investment in universities & research is disappointing & a missed opportunity. 🇨🇦 does not need more “international talent”, it needs to invest in its current ECRs, pay them living wages, & most of all >>increase post-doc funding so that they don’t have to look abroad after their PhDs.

I got a NYT subscription for my bday a year ago. They are disappointingly equivocating in how they frame Trump’s lawlessness, and I won’t be renewing

It’s only one of the most seismically active rangefronts in the entire Alpine-Himalayan belt!
