Although I like the new Ranma anime, I do think the original 80's show surpasses it in many ways. Not least my fave gag.
In the MAPPA version Akane actually bothers to clean up the mess from Kodachi's entrance, but in the original she just silently stews in the shoujo villain-infused destruction

I went back to one-shot Milky Subway: Galactic Limited Express now that the first season(?) is all out.
Man, I really hope this provides more opportunities for Yōhei Kameyama to showcase his skills. Dude has a talent for writing. And direction. And design. And mode...

Oh god, it took four episodes but it finally happened. We have a (sorta) adult with some semblance of a fucking soul!

I'm conflicted. I really want to believe this is an artist-lead show, albeit one with a fairly meager production, & I'm not convinced by the screencap 'proof' but I can't deny I didn't have the same thought when seeing those postcard shots in the shows. There's a strange artificially to them.

Yano-kun's Ordinary Days
I like the designs & while the animation itself seems very limited, the animation is clever enough in disguising it.
As a comedic romance it's solid, even if the cast are a little lacking in personality & rapport to convince me as yet.

So does Ruri Rocks' universe use sexy anime gatcha rules, where the more you rank up your skills, the thicker you get?
Does every academic, doctor and politician look like they're from Azur Lane?
And what about the men? Is Lawrence Krauss out there somewhere, strutting shirtless and swole?

Stories about underdogs rising up & honing strength or skills are commonplace in shounen, but from the start Dr Stone has earnestly declared that even the weakest among us can contribute to a greater cause.
These last few episodes are possibly the greatest depiction I've seen of that belief.

I don't think The Pumpkin Wine has much chance of standing next to similar wacky 80's sitcoms like Urusei Yatsura, Stop!! Hibari-kun! or Tokimeki Tonight, but it'll make for good relaxation tv.
However, the premise feels absurd in today's landscape. I mean doesn't want a giant girlfriend now?

I'm not sure I've ever watched an anime purely because I've found one of the characters cute, but here we are now.

Awww, given the events of the latest Dr Stone episode, Suika now has her own version of the ED. That's a lovely touch.
