from 2005 to 2020, I was lucky to be based in SF, Paris, and Moscow. thus, many concerts with a camera (vs audio recording previously).

well… this is quite the (fantastic) notion.

and women to a breeding gulag?

what would jesus do? (once he gets out of the toast impressions duties.)

didn’t these notions get spewed from soap boxes with no audience?
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
Nick Fuentes: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.”

can't the Congress people just yield all their time to Isaac Chotiner?

he seems to deal well with people whose behaviour is unacceptable.
Pam Bondi’s behavior today was unacceptable.

I am not saying this is cause-effect, but:

1. DJ Trump tosses paper towels in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria
2. MAGA/Fox loses their collective shits over Alejandra Ocasio-Cortez (I think Nuyorican counts)
3. MAGA/Fox loses their collective shits over Bad Bunny.

the thread has merit: not heretical.

in terms of music:
1. it may not be efficient, but it is highly rewarding.
2. same.
3. ideally, books and media are best placed out of sight. perhaps best in shallow closets.
(some, under current usage, can be in a living room— absolutism is not needed.)
I have three heretical thoughts about books:

- Time spent browsing in bookshops is mostly wasted
- Books make for terrible gifts. Don't give books.
- There are vastly more interesting things to put on living-room shelves than books

Come at me! Add to the list!

finally, I find this statement on here.

" we are not this kind of people, so it must be examples from elsewhere" is the most annoying way that people talk about their internal flaws."

yes, you are... and it has to be addressed if the "we are not like this" is to be resolved.
Americans have a habit of trying to compare all authoritarianism to Nazi Germany. I think in some ways i think it is comforting to view authoritarianism as a foreign ideology. If you want to understand our current authoritarian moment, you need to look to our own past, not to Europe 1/x

this is utterly... WTF?

yet, making way for the newer generation must be made and allow some people to dabble in such sacrileges.

that said, it keeps increasing my annoyance at the causation from cameras on phones. it is right up there with the usage of "proof" instead of "evidence".

I do think, at a minimum, this kind of crusade demands quite a bit of cutting humour/sarcasm.

but it is not for me... really on a control-snark bent, hence the "step back from the social network" illusion/pursuit.
Calvin’s got better things to do this weekend🤣. What are your weekend plans? #CalvinandHobbes

if I were to comment on all that is wrong with the USA... I would be a Blueskypro.

I take this rare QT just to note how nasty these goons (the administration, if not clear)… and why it seems that the first order of business after midterms is to impeach the lot.
the prez is void of ideas, anyway.
Last week, I looked into the record of the federal prosecutor in Minnesota who was leading the work on the Somali daycare fraud case.

He struck me as a straight shooter, not a partisan hack.

Well here's confirmation: He has quit after DOJ pressure to investigate Renee Good's widow. (#giftlink 🎁)

recently reminded:
humans are horrible guessers, and yet they persist.

I am right there: ask first?
age and origin are the most commonly guessed wrong.

but wrong profession guesses are the most fun:

architect
music biz
professor
photographer

anyone to volunteer their experiences?

my plan to finally start a company and make some money is going nowhere.

(plan: manufacture little screw drivers and screws for the "little screwdriver assembly" economy of USA manufacturing jobs that were to skyrocket.)

(I was not working the tariffs angle either: bad planning all around.)

the good, and it’s the majority of people, will prevail: as they deserve it.

still, that does not mean that this darkness is not part of a great illness.

and, also, how very long it will take to achieve a semblance of normalcy.

personally, I don’t see it happening.
Most days, it doesn’t really feel like this country is gonna make it.

Today it doesn’t feel like it deserves to.

absolutely this not being unaware of what they imply as process.

another, related one, is the use of insults-through-euphemisms: just say what you mean explicitly, not fishing for a wink of being understood.

but then again, humans are funny creatures and that’s how psychology gets to evolve.
It never fails to amuse me how any instance of a fictional character being called a fascist immediately riles up MAGA because it's obviously meant to compare him to Trump or his followers.

My man, aren't you bothered that when someone says "fascist" your first thought is "they're talking about us?"

the wonders of the human mind will never cease, despite (or in spite), of what we have learn.

all humans are experts, or have a valid perspective, on everything: we are all above average. (except for the people we don’t like.)
This is nuts. Too much emphasis on experts on climate change, right?
